Mouse Polling Rate Analyzer

Measure real-time mouse report frequency, peak burst rate in Hz, and sensor jitter in your browser.

The Mouse Polling Rate Analyzer tests your gaming mouse's report rate (Hz) using real-time pointer event delta sampling and sub-frame coalesced event analysis. Moving your mouse across the test radar generates a dynamic frequency graph showing instant Hz, peak burst speed, rolling average, and sensor interval stability. It estimates your mouse's hardware tier (125Hz, 250Hz, 500Hz, 1000Hz, 2000Hz, 4000Hz, or 8000Hz) while providing an honest browser accuracy disclaimer.

Browser Measurement Accuracy Disclaimer

Web browsers operate under operating system event queuing, display refresh synchronization (V-Sync), and browser UI thread constraints. While this analyzer utilizes modern PointerEvent.getCoalescedEvents() to inspect sub-frame mouse reports up to 1000Hz+, browser measurements cannot reliably certify high-speed hardware polling rates (such as 4000Hz or 8000Hz) with the electrical precision of hardware USB bus analyzers (e.g. MouseTester or hardware oscilloscopes).

How to Test Your Mouse Polling Rate

  1. Move your mouse cursor rapidly and continuously inside the radar test box.
  2. Watch the live frequency waveform and instantaneous Hz readout climb toward your mouse's rating.
  3. Observe the Peak Rate (Hz) and Average Rate (Hz) to determine if your mouse reaches 500Hz, 1000Hz, or higher.
  4. Check the Interval Jitter metric to verify smooth tracking consistency without stutter.
  5. Click Reset to clear previous statistics and start a new frequency benchmark.

Frequently Asked Questions about Mouse Polling Rate

What is mouse polling rate and why does it matter for gaming?

Polling rate is measured in Hertz (Hz) and describes how many times per second your mouse reports its position and clicks to your computer. A 1000 Hz mouse updates every 1 millisecond, whereas a standard 125 Hz office mouse updates every 8 milliseconds. Higher polling rates significantly reduce input latency and produce smoother crosshair tracking in fast-paced games.

Can a web browser accurately test 1000Hz, 4000Hz, or 8000Hz mice?

Web browsers are subject to operating system scheduler priority, GPU compositing, and display refresh rates. However, modern Chromium browsers support PointerEvent.getCoalescedEvents(), which captures multiple hardware reports between animation frames. While this provides a reliable estimate for 500Hz and 1000Hz mice, hardware-level USB bus analyzers (like MouseTester on Windows) are required to certify 4000Hz and 8000Hz mice with absolute precision.

Why does my 1000 Hz mouse only show 500 Hz or lower when moving slowly?

Modern optical sensors only send reports when physical motion is detected. If you move your mouse slowly or at low DPI, the sensor does not generate enough displacement counts to saturate the full 1000 Hz USB polling frequency. Move the mouse rapidly across the canvas to observe maximum burst polling rate.

Does a higher polling rate consume more CPU resources?

Yes. A 1000 Hz mouse generates 1,000 hardware interrupts per second, which modern multicore CPUs handle easily. However, 4000 Hz and 8000 Hz polling rates can cause noticeable CPU micro-stutter in older games or on systems with high background load. Most competitive esports professionals play on 1000 Hz or 2000 Hz.

Is any personal data or mouse hardware telemetry transmitted to your servers?

No. All pointer event frequency measurements and canvas waveform rendering run 100% locally in your client browser. No telemetry or tracking data is collected.
