Controller Stick Drift Tester

Check your sticks for drift.

Connect a controller and watch both analog sticks live. The tester shows raw X/Y values, stick magnitude and a drift indicator with an adjustable deadzone, all locally in your browser.

How to test for drift

  1. Connect your controller via USB or Bluetooth.
  2. Press any button so the browser detects the gamepad.
  3. Leave the sticks centered and watch the readouts.
  4. Raise the deadzone to find the smallest value that keeps the sticks at zero.

Frequently asked questions

What counts as stick drift?

Drift means a centered stick reports a non-zero position. If the dot sits off-center or the magnitude stays above zero with untouched sticks, the stick is drifting.

Which controllers work?

Any controller the browser Gamepad API recognizes: Xbox, PlayStation, Switch Pro and most USB or Bluetooth gamepads in Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari.

Why is no gamepad detected?

Press a button or move a stick after connecting — browsers only expose gamepads after input. Also check Bluetooth pairing, cables and browser permissions.

What does the deadzone slider do?

It ignores stick movement below the set threshold. Games use the same trick to hide small drift. Finding your minimum clean deadzone tells you how bad the drift is.

Is my controller data uploaded?

No. Gamepad readings never leave your device — the page only visualizes what your browser already exposes.
