AES Encrypt / Decrypt

Encrypt and decrypt text with AES-128 — fully client-side.

Encrypt plain text with AES-128 and decrypt it back using ECB, CBC or CTR mode. Keys are Base64-encoded 128-bit keys you can generate with one click, CBC ciphertexts include a random IV, and everything runs locally in your browser without uploading your data.

How to encrypt and decrypt with AES

  1. Generate a 128-bit key or paste your own Base64 key.
  2. Choose the cipher mode: ECB, CBC or CTR.
  3. Enter your plain text and press Encrypt.
  4. Switch the action to Decrypt, paste the Base64 or hex ciphertext and press Decrypt.

Frequently asked questions

Which AES mode should I choose?

CBC and CTR are recommended. ECB reveals patterns in encrypted data, so use it only for testing or when a target system requires it.

Where does the IV come from?

In CBC mode a fresh random 16-byte IV is generated for every encryption and prepended to the ciphertext. CTR starts from an all-zero counter block.

Is my data uploaded?

No. Encryption and decryption happen entirely in your browser; nothing is sent to ToolPilot's server.
