Frequently asked questions

Can I convert a scanned PDF to Word?

This tool extracts selectable text and does not include OCR. Scanned or image-only PDFs may not have text that can be converted.

Will the text in the Word document be editable?

Yes. Text extracted from supported PDFs is added as editable Word text. Supported images can also be included in the document.

Are my PDF files uploaded?

No. PDF reading and conversion happen locally in your browser; your file is not uploaded to a server.

What happens to images and videos in the PDF?

Supported embedded images can be included in the Word document and downloaded separately. A video is downloadable only when the PDF contains a recognizable embedded video attachment; links and thumbnails are not the original video.
