AES Encrypt / Decrypt
Encrypt and decrypt text with AES-128 — fully client-side.
Encrypt plain text with AES-128 and decrypt it back using ECB, CBC or CTR mode. Keys are Base64-encoded 128-bit keys you can generate with one click, CBC ciphertexts include a random IV, and everything runs locally in your browser without uploading your data.
How to encrypt and decrypt with AES
- Generate a 128-bit key or paste your own Base64 key.
- Choose the cipher mode: ECB, CBC or CTR.
- Enter your plain text and press Encrypt.
- Switch the action to Decrypt, paste the Base64 or hex ciphertext and press Decrypt.
Frequently asked questions
Which AES mode should I choose?
CBC and CTR are recommended. ECB reveals patterns in encrypted data, so use it only for testing or when a target system requires it.
Where does the IV come from?
In CBC mode a fresh random 16-byte IV is generated for every encryption and prepended to the ciphertext. CTR starts from an all-zero counter block.
Is my data uploaded?
No. Encryption and decryption happen entirely in your browser; nothing is sent to ToolPilot's server.
